If I was to make a guess, I would say that both problems are related. Your fabric is bunching because your thread tension is too tight. This may be caused by the your thread tension dial being at the wrong setting, your threading improperly, your bobbin thread is wound sloppy, or maybe the bobbin is not being placed in the machine properly. If you’ve checked all these things and there’s still an issue, I would recommend getting your machine looked at by a professional. Because of the strange noises you’re hearing, it could be there’s something wrong inside the machine, so the thread doesn’t run evenly through the machine and the fabric will bunch if there’s something pulling the thread or causing it to get stuck.
