Dear Professor — I am new to sewing my own clothing (actually this is just the 2nd piece I’m attempting) and I need to make a waist increase to my pattern. I have watched the increase waist video — but am at a loss for this one — since there is no obvious “pivot point” at the under arm side seam (the sleeves are part of the front and back bodice pattern piece) for making the waist adjustment. Can you please advise where to go from here? Thanks, so much!!!

hi there, if I were you I would draw your seam allowances on the pattern. So draw a line to represent the seam under the sleeve and and then one for the side seam. Where these two lines intersect is going to be your pivot point. Another idea, is if you have a regular bodice pattern, you can lay it on top and it should give you a general idea on where to pivot. Hope this helps!
