    Hi,
I am attempting to sew a dress out of polyester taffeta. I am planning to do a faux overlock of all raw edges before sewing as you suggest in your tutorial to prevent fraying. However, how do I prevent fraying in areas where I am required to trim and notch or clip into the seam allowance to either reduce bulk or to help curving?

Thanks for your advice and great tutorials!

Do you have fraycheck? You can dab a little bit of fray check on the edge of the fabric after you cut any notches. It’ll prevent the fabric from fray but just use a little. It will make the fabric stiffer and could discolor the taffeta. Dab it on the edge, then gently blow on it to dry it it before moving on because you don’t want it to get on the main part of your taffeta where it might show. good luck!
