I got a sewing machine for Christmas. I have learned a few things from here and on youtube. I’d like to make a quilt for my daughter. What do you recommend for a beginner? What materials do I need? I have the fabric and cutting tools.
One other thing I noticed is my squares are not lining up properly…. What is the recommended stitch seam?

Did you check out our tutorial on making a basic block quilt? In this tutorial I list all the supplies you would need to make a simple quilt. As for matching seams, I always match the seams first and then ease the fabric between. For your first quilt, I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself. The more you do it, the better it will look.

Ok I’m doing pretty good with the seams now. But could you explain easing the fabric between? I’m not sure I’m understanding that correctly. :/

No problem! I do a demonstration of it in this tutorial 🙂 https://www.professorpincushion.com/professorpincushion/fabric-easing/
