Presser feet interchangeable?

I have a Singer sewing machine with multiple accessory feet.
I’m thinking of buying a new machine but am looking at other manufacturers.
Are presser feet generally interchangeable among the basic manufacturers or will I have to buy them all again (tell me it isn’t so!)?

No, they might be if it’s the same brand of machine, but I’ve recently used 3 different brands of machines and all of them had a different way of attaching the foot on the machine. Some might be interchangeable but I would never assume that they are.
