Sewing machine

I have a simple Singer machine I bought a few years ago. I find it hard to do alterations to the legs on my work jeans. I can’t get the legs in the machine enough to get to all areas of legs. What is the best machine, without spending major money to do see Jean legs?

I’ve also seen these machines sold in places like JoAnn so you can visit the store, see it in person, and see if the base really does get as skinny as it looks.
