Hand Applique is a technique commonly found in quilting but can really be used in any project that needs a unique embellishment. While it can be time consuming, it's well worth the effort when you're done. This type of applique has no raw edges showing, so it has a very clean look and you can really do any shape you want. Not only that but you can overlap appliques to create a complex and beautiful design. In this demonstration, I use freezer paper and liquid starch to create the applique and then show you how to sew it onto your fabric. If you've never tried this craft before, I highly recommend it.
