I have a new addiction. If I knew making my own panties were so easy, I would have started making them a long time ago. I know some people would suggest saving these types of projects for an overlook machine, but I did fine making them on my regular sewing machine and I'm not going to stop now.
This project has everything I like. It doesn't take much fabric, it doesn't take a lot of time to make, and it's fun to make out of different types of fabric. Just make sure you're using a two way stretch. One of the first pairs I made, I used fabric that was stretchy, but not quite stretchy enough. It was just some scrap fabric I had and I thought "what the heck, I'll give it a try" and thought that fabric would make cute panties. Well, I learned my lesson and I'd prefer it if the top of my legs didn't end up looking like overstuffed sausages. Well, it gave me a good laugh anyways. Once I was using the correct fabric (stretch lace and 2 way stretch knit) the panties worked out great.
The style of these panties, called hipster, is something between a bikini style and boy shorts. I think they're really cute and in lace they look fancy enough to be found in an expensive lingerie store. Our patterns are for sizes small, medium, and large. You can try scaling up the pattern for a larger size, just make sure to make a muslin first before using more expensive fabric.
Please note: I also use a twin needle, so if you don't have one, you should be able to pick one up at the fabric store.
The downloadable file is a .zip file. Download it, then open the zip file. Windows by default will be able to open a zip file. Inside the zip file is the 3 different sizes. Open the pdf of the size you want, then print.
How do I print out the different sizes for the hipster?
Thanks, Michael
This video is excellent! I love how easy you make it look to create hipsters!!! I am excited to make a dozen and save money at the same time!!
These are great! Just made 2 dresses and 2 skirts for the girls over the past two days, so might need to break out the twin needles to make something for me! 🙂
