Many fabric stores will sell a selection of iron-on patches, both for repairing or for decoration, ready to go and ready to use. Regardless, there are reasons to make your own iron-on patches. Usually, the ones in the store are limited as far as the selection is concerned. If you make your own, you can really use any fabric that can take a high heat from your iron. You also have more flexibility when it comes to the patch size, while the ones in the store, usually only come so big. Also, fusible webbing, the basis of our iron-on patches, is actually pretty cheap so in the long run it's usually cheaper to make your own. Really, there's no reason not to make your own patches, especially considering how easy it is. A patch is not just used for making repairs, although it can be handy for that purpose, but it's also fun to make your own decorative patches. If you really like a certain print your fabric has, consider using it to make yourself a patch. It's as easy as using an iron.
