Are you sewing a buttoned down shirt and it has a flapped patch pocket? You'll want to check out this demonstration. Not only do I sew this kind of pocket but I also add a snap. You maybe have a different, or no kind of fastener, but if this is the case, you can skip this section of the demo as it isn't usually done until the end of construction. While there are multiple steps to attaching a pocket and flap, it's usually pretty easy. I made sure to do my pocket pieces in a contrasting print so it would be easy to see, but you can definitely do it in matching fabric to the shirt. Or not, and keep things interesting.
