It's very important to pick out the right thread for your project and there's so many different options out there. Thread types covered in this demonstration include all-purpose, cotton, silk, rayon, heavy duty, hand quilting, invisible, and elastic. This video shows you what those options mean and how they work for your project. Also, included in this video is how to match your thread to your fabric. I think the most common application in sewing for this kind of thread is hand quilting. The wax allows it to smoothly go through thick quilting layers and helps prevent it from getting twisted and knotted. I would not use it in a sewing machine as the wax could chip off inside the machine. For sewing something like an apron, you can use all-purpose thread. I hope this helps! 🙂
i bought a thread that says it is waxed coated cotton. What is that used for? Can I sew regular cotton fabric with it, for example an apron?
I would say that all purpose is stronger.
great videos btw i’m really enjoying them! which thread is stronger cotton or polyester?
Thank you
